Dorothy Ross Puls, known to all who loved her as Dolly, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from congestive heart failure. She had just recently celebrated her 83rd birthday.

Dolly was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 30, 1934, to parents Clyde and Esther Ross. She reminisced fondly of her experiences at Walnut Hills High School, also the alma mater of her late husband of 53 years, Dr. Richard N. Puls. Dolly attended North Western University and following graduation, worked in Cincinnati at the headquarters of Proctor and Gamble, and also briefly as an elementary school teacher.

Dolly relocated to Ventura, CA in 1962 when her husband began his medical residency at Ventura County General Hospital, and although Cincinnati remained in her heart, Ventura became her home. Dolly embraced her new community and over time, served in a variety of positions - president of the Ventura County Forum of the Arts, member of the National Charity League, president of the Ventura County Medical Auxiliary and president of the Ventura County Newcomers Club from which she still enjoys friendships dating back to the early sixties.

Dolly was an avid bridge player and continued to play up until her health would no longer allow. She enjoyed the cognitive challenges of the card game, but even more so, she loved the beautiful camaraderie that had developed around the bridge table. A lover of antiques, art and interior design, Dolly appreciated the beauty found in quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Dolly was a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered by her family and friends with enduring love. Dolly is survived by her children, Adrienne Leigh Jones and husband Jim of Indianapolis, Indiana, Allyson Scott Puls-Dharmadji and husband Toto of Jakarta Indonesia and Richard Graham "Grady" Puls of Ventura and Petra Puls of Oxnard; grandchildren, Jade Asmara, Kier Serai and Taj Adair Dharmadji and Ian Hunter Puls.

A memorial service will be held at Ted Mayr Funeral Home on December 17, 2017 at 4:30pm, when Dolly's family members will all be able to come together in Ventura.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project. A gift of flowers would be appropriate in December at the time of the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Condolences may be sent to TedMayrFuneralHome.com.
