Lola De La Cruz passed away on October 11, 2016. She was 93 years old and had been a resident of Ventura for 29 years. Lola was born in Fabens, Texas and grew up in Colton, California. She was the eldest daughter to Benito and Isidra (Sierra) Alvarez. Lola had six younger siblings of which only the youngest is still living, Ralph Alvarez.

Daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother were Lola's most important roles. Her love and commitment to family was incomparable. She had three children, but is survived by her two daughters, Stella Cisneros and Betty De La Cruz-Bernard (and her husband, Jose Bernard). Her son, Bobby De La Cruz, passed away in 1989. Her granddaughters, Marcie Rodriguez (and her fiancé, Dane Arneson) and Juliana Cox, meant the world to her.

Lola worked as a Practical Nurse for over 20 years. Most of her time was spent assisting in the obstetrical delivery room. She shared many stories about the babies that she helped to deliver.

Lola was proud about returning to college and earning a certification in Early Childhood Development. She enjoyed her work as a Pre-School Teacher, which she did for about 10 years.

Although she was a hard-working, single parent to three children, in her free time, Lola enjoyed cooking, baking, and doing a variety of crafts. She taught her daughters and granddaughters how to knit, crochet, and sew, as well as culinary skills.

Lola's life will be celebrated in a private ceremony with family and friends. In lieu of flowers please consider donation to a preferred charity.
